I’m thrilled to be a part of this amazing upcoming season at WP Theater in co-production with Fiasco. I have been collaborating with Fiasco, and my long-time muse/classmate/director Emily Young on my play The Stand In, and am so excited to bring it to life this winter. Bio:
Crystal has performed in over twenty world premiere plays on and off broadway, and downtown, in New York. Recent credits include The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize-Winning play Cold War Choir Practice by Ro Reddick and directed by Knud Adams, and the drama desk nominated Deep Blue Sound by Abe Koogler and directed by Arin Arbus. Crystal is an affiliated artist with Clubbed Thumb Theater where she has been developing and performing new plays by living American writers for the past decade, including two iterations of Will Arbery’s Plano, directed by Taylor Reynolds, and her own play Find Me Here, which was directed for Summerworks by Caitlin Sullivan. She was a semi-finalist for the Clubbed Thumb Biennial Comission, a member of the early career writer’s group, and a playwright in the Clubbed Thumb directing fellowship for Winterworks with her play Ms. Lily, which was directed by Josiah Davis. She has recently collaborated with Fiasco Theater on her play The Stand In, for their Without A Net development program, and has also written a commissioned play for the Fiasco ensemble. She is a recipient of the NYSCA Arts Grant, a Theater World Award, and a nominee for the Lucille Lortel award for best featured performer for Cold War Choir Practice. Crystal also writes essays about theater, including this one in American Theatre Magazine about motherhood, acting, and the experience of performing in Plano. She is originally from Grass Valley, California.
